THE SILVER KING

Tarpon Charter Fishing In Charlotte Harbor & Pine Island

Often referred to as the Silver King, this prehistoric fish can grow to over 300 lbs and live for 50+ years... with its unmatched speed and stamina, long runs and arial acrobatics its no surprise that this is one one the most prized and sought after trophies that swims in our waters.

We have two uniquely different scenarios here when it comes to tarpon. The most well known is the spring/ summer spawning migration that takes place here. Usually starting in mid to late March and often catching them into October with the peak being May and June. Fish in the 100-150 lb class are common with larger fish being up and over 200 lb range caught regularly.

We target these fish on both fly and conventional tackle using artificial and live bait as they migrate up and down the coast of our barrier islands.

We also have a very healthy resident  population of juvenile fish that are here all year. We commonly find them on shallow flats and in the backcountry while fishing for redfish and snook. These fish will typically range from 5-50 lbs. and are willing participants to eat a well presented fly or artificial lure on light tackle.
